0 km A popular hill station.
  1. Rohtang Pass
52 kms The historic pass between Kullu and Lahaul valleys with a good view, Now it is a popular tourist spot.
  1. Khoksar
19 kms The first village in Lahaul. A road bifurcates towards Spiti at Gramphoo, little before Khoksar.
  1. Sissue
14 kms A small village on banks of the Sissu nala. Some treks start from here.
  1. Tandi
22 kms A small village at the confluence of Chandra and Bhaga rivers. Road to Keylong and Udaipur bifurcate from here.
  1. Keylong
8 kms The district headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, now a popular tourist spot. Kardhang monastery is across the Bhaga river. The town has an excellent view.
  1. Darcha-Sumdo
30 kms A small village. Wester Himalayan Mountaineering Institute has a hostel
nearby at Jispa. Treks to Shingo la and Zanskar start from here.
  1. Patsio
14 kms A small halt in barren Lahaul.
  1. Baralacha la
30 kms The historic pass which crosses the main Himalayan chain. On north lies Yunan Tso (lake). Chandra valley can be approached from here. There are several peaks approachable from both sides of the road.
  1. Sarchu
33 kms A camping ground in Zanskar. Litde before Sarchu, Phalang-danda (a giant rock) marks the boundary between Lahaul and Zanskar. Sarchu has wide open places and treks to Phirtse la starts from here.
  1. Lachalang la
54 kms Little ahead of' Sarchu the road crosses Tsarap Chu over a bridge. Then it climbs up to Lachalang la Pass.
  1. Pang
22 kms This is about the mid-point for the Leh-Manali road. Some temporary camps are established here in season when road is open.
  1. More Plains
27 kms Wide open plains where the road drives straight on. On the east treks across the plains lead to Tso Moriri while in the west are the Zanskar valleys.
  1. Tanglang la
39 kms The highest point on this road. This pass is difficult to negotiate. By crossing this pass one enters the Central Ladakh.
  1. Upshi
60 kms A junction on the Indus. The road bifurcates from here towards Rupshu and for Demchok, and little ahead at Kiari for Chang la.
  1. Shakti
24 kms Headquarters for road-builders and a famous monastery.
  1. Leh
25 kms Headquarters of Ladakh, well known tourist spot with an airstrip. The roads leads to Khardung la (in north) and to Kargil (in west).
